Self-Care Activist and Chief Wellness Officer (CWO) of Heal My People: Felisha Jones

Meet Felisha Jones, a passionate self-care activist and the visionary founder of Heal My People. With an unwavering commitment to empowering a stressed out and undervalued world, Felisha has dedicated the past six years to transforming the lives of overachieving inner-city teens, budding entrepreneurs, and distressed communities through innovative self-care and meditative breathwork practices. Her mission is to disrupt generational cycles of trauma and ignite more self-care activists.

Empowering communities one breath at a time, Felisha is curating a national movement of self-care activists who understand that rest doesn’t have to be earned; it is our birthright to rest and experience pure joy. At the core of her philosophy is the belief that self-care is not merely an individual pursuit but a vital practice of communal care, emphasizing the importance of collective well-being and social justice. By engaging in self-care, individuals not only nurture themselves but also create a ripple effect that uplifts those around them.

Felisha's goal is ambitious yet impactful: to infiltrate businesses, churches, and schools on both a national and international level. She seeks to instill a culture of self-care and communal well-being in diverse settings, believing that everyone—regardless of their background—deserves access to healing and empowerment. As an imperfect follower of Christ and multi-hyphenate creative, she has found breathwork and meditation to complement, not replace her prayer life.

As an internationally certified meditation teacher under the globally-recognized Dr. Deepak Chopra, Felisha expertly guides humans in a powerful synergy that respects the complexity of human experience by marrying evidence-based research with the transformative power of personal spiritual practices. This integrated approach not only aims to calm the nervous system but also nurtures joy and fulfillment in the heart, leading to a more balanced and enriched life.

Felisha passionately advocates that self-care is preventative care—a proactive approach that equips individuals to face life's challenges with ease and clarity. She skillfully weaves prayer, affirmations, humor, and meditation into her teachings, empowering individuals to embrace a restful awareness. Through these practices, she demonstrates how our breath can serve as our medicine to regulate our nervous systems in an increasingly chaotic world.

Her expertise spans various modalities, including Healing Companion under Santa Sorenson's Healing and Rebuilding Our Communities (HROC) - An African trauma-healing initiative birthed in Rwanda post the genocide; Intro to Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR); Advanced Facilitator of Mind-Body Medicine under Dr. Gordon of The Center for Mind-Body Medicine, and a student of Foundations in Somatic Abolitionism (FSA) with Resmaa Menakem.

A Chat with Felisha Jones | The Self-care Activist

What are your intentions for Heal My People?

  1. To be the watering well for all-things self-care.

  2. I AM called to leave a legacy of self-care that will ultimately guide people towards their passionate purpose with restful awareness!

What is self-care?

Self-care is a way of life - showing up for ourselves with the humility needed to do the work. It is proactive healthcare. It is not to be seen as a luxury. It is the intentional and necessary act of implementing various modalities to maintain an optimal level of overall health - mental, physical, spiritual, emotional, and societal.

What do you mean by Heal?

Tending to ourselves - always, in all ways. Becoming the best version of ourselves without self-judgement. Unlearning everything that no longer serves us. Identifying any trauma that may be resting in our bodies and unearthing it with patience and self-love.

Who are your people?

If anything I share resonates with you - you’re probably my people.

Why prayer + meditation?

God First - always, in all ways. My passion centers around adding additional tools to our personal spiritual sanctuaries and finding pockets of joy on a daily basis. Prayer + Breathwork are the perfect marriage that align the spirit, mind, & body connection. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. Meditation is a scientifically-proven way to reduce stress in the body by regulating our nervous systems, reducing stress, and igniting calmness in any environment or situation.

Is this therapy?

No. However, my practices are therapeutic. I can start you with a self-care plan that will involve seeking a therapist for deeper/traumatic issues, if needed. Many people simply need to learn how to breathe through stress and develop a habit of replacing negative thoughts with positive affirmations and prayers.

I dedicate this work to our ancestor,
